“How shall I curse whom God has not cursed? And how shall I denounce whom the Lord has not denounced? “Who can count the dust of Jacob, or number one-fourth of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my end be like his (Numbers 23: 8, 10). Balak tried to get the people of God cursed, but to his despair, this could not happen. “What have you done to me? I took you to curse my enemies and look you have blessed them bountifully!” (Num 23:11) exclaimed Balak. Balaam responded “Must I not heed to speak what the Lord has put in my mouth?” (Num 23: 12). No matter how many times Balak tried to have Israel cursed, Balaam would return with a blessing. Whom God bless, no one can curse!
Oh that we would have eyes to see how the Lord truly sees His people. “Behold I have received a command to bless; He has blessed and I cannot reverse it” “God brings them out of Egypt; He has strength like a wild ox (Num 23: 22). The Lord blesses His people, protects, covers and provides for them. When I think of who we are in Christ, the bounty bestowed upon us and the inheritance we have as co-heirs with Him, the people of God are indeed blessed! If we truly understand who are in Christ, we should have a confident hope. Not to walk arrogantly on the earth, but to know whose we are. If we truly know whose we are, we may be more eager to throw off sin which so easily ensnares us (Heb 12:1) and to walk in victorious living.
My encouragement to you, if you are called by His name and if you have made the deliberate choice to be known as His, is that you set your mind on how God views you. He views us as a chosen generation, a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9) and a people who are blessed. Let His perception of you, cause you to arise from any wallowing in the murky depths of sin. Lift up your head, know who you are in Him and walk as a people called and esteemed by God Himself.
Prayer
Lord, let me walk in the understanding of who I am in you. I am blessed, a child of God, a co-heir with Christ. I am not held captive by sin any longer. I can walk victoriously and experience the freedom in Christ you have given me. I believe, accept and receive Your word. In Jesus name. Amen.
