"And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him, and said to him, “The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!” (Judges 6:12). Mighty man of valour! This perspective was something Gideon did not perceive about himself. The Lord had work for Gideon to do, saw the potential in him and was calling forth what Gideon was to be. Yet Gideon could not see why God would use him “O my Lord, how can I save Israel? Indeed my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house” (Judges 6:15).

How many of us have this perspective about ourselves? God calls us to do a great work, yet in our eyes we are weak and unfit for the task. Moses thought his speech impediment made him unworthy for his assignment (Ex 4:10) and the Israelites saw themselves to be but grasshoppers when it was time to enter the promised land (Num 13:33). Despite how you feel, there is great news ahead! It is when we believe we are incapable that God steps in, if we ask Him to. God gives us the wisdom, the supernatural alliances and downloads the strategies required for the next step. When we are then successful in accomplishing the task, we know without a shadow of a doubt that it was God who enabled us to accomplish the feat.

My encouragement to you is to choose to view yourself only in the way God sees you. Once the Lord calls you to something, He will not leave you stranded. God will provide you with everything you need to get it accomplished. The key is going to Him for the wisdom, knowledge, understanding and having a heart of humility to learn and receive. Believe the words God speaks over you, believe His perspective and bring your life into alignment with His perspective. Choose to have a right view of yourself.

Prayer

Lord, I choose to believe what You say of me. Forgive me for walking in a spirit of doubt, lift my head from hopelessness and despair. Let me walk in newness of life. Let me walk with boldness and integrity. Let me walk into all that You have called me to be. For You are with me, You will not leave me and You will equip me for every good work. I thank You for doing this and I believe what You say. I walk victoriously, I walk with purpose. In Jesus name. Amen.
