Strengthen Yourself!

Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God (1 Sam 30: 6). How did David strengthen himself in the Lord? The next two verses shows us that David got the priest and enquired of the Lord. David knew who to run to, he chose to take his eyes and heart from the complete despair in front of him and seek the Lord's face on the matter.

In seeking God's face in the middle of despair, David received the answer to his enquiry. The Lord told him to pursue his enemies for indeed he would recover all that was stolen rom him (vs 8). How do we strengthen ourselves? By taking our eyes from the despair in front of us and running to the One who sees. This requires an intentional shift in peeling your attention away from circumstances and lifting your head towards God. The good news is that God rewards those who seek Him and will be found!

Whatever circumstances, trials, issues and despair lie in front of you, I encourage you to be like David and enquire from the Lord. In doing this you will strengthen yourself! You will find renewed hope and an ability to move forward in spite of what lies ahead. Trust Him today.

Prayer

God I am desperate for You and in need of You. I am in need of Your hope, Your strength and Your guidance. You told us that once we seek You, You will indeed be found and I am seeking You right now. Give me direction, give me Your peace, a peace that passes all understanding. I know You reward those who diligently seek You and I ask You to intervene on my behalf. I thank You for being faithful in Jesus precious name. Amen.
