“So if a Levite comes from any of your gates, from where he dwells among all Israel, and comes with all the desire of his mind to the place which the Lord chooses, then he may serve in the name of the Lord his God as all his brethren the Levites do, who stand there before the Lord” (Deut 18: 6,7).

He who comes with all the desire of his mind. This posture shows intentionality and is the type of heart position which the Lord is seeking. It is not a heart that comes haphazardly, sluggishly or unwillingly. When the Lord calls you to service, where is your heart? Do you go willingly, do you go wholeheartedly? Do you go expecting to give of your best, with nothing less than the King deserves?

"And when you offer the blind as a sacrifice, Is it not evil? And when you offer the lame and sick, Is it not evil? Offer it then to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you favorably? " Says the Lord of hosts (Mal 1:8). If you were going before an earthly king, or royalty would you not make sure that you had an excellent or worthwhile gift? How much more when coming into the presence of the Omnipotent One, the Creator? We should be seeking to give Him an honourable sacrifice. Our heart position should say 'I want to present to You only the best'.

My encouragement to you today is that you commit to presenting and serving only the best before the Lord. The best looks different with each season of life. Life as a single unmarried person for example, is vastly different from the available time of a wife, mother of a newborn and toddler. Your heart position however should remain the same, to give to the Lord only what is acceptable. Let us worship Him in this way and give Him only excellence!

Prayer

Lord, help me to see You as I rightly should, as One who deserves only excellence. I give You my best when it comes to my time, service and worship. Forgive me when I have neglected to do this and presented an unworthy sacrifice to You. Show me what ways in my life I can demonstrate that I am truly giving you an honourable sacrifice and when You show me, let me be diligent to obey. I pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.
